St Peters put up brave battle in Moygannon

The u-10s played in their own tournament at moygannon on saturday october 4th. We were fortunate to be able to enter two teams with the B team being knocked out in the quarter finals of the shield after some encouraging performances from a young side.

The A side were in a group with Aughlisnafin, Carryduff, Dromara , Loughinisland and Clonduff. After group wins over Aughlisnafin, Dromara, Clonduff and Loughinisland the point were paired with Newry Shamrocks in the quarter final. The Blues gained revenge for the drumgath final defeat by knocking the shamrocks out to go on to meet clonduff again this time in the semi final. The strength of the Point's 1st round group could be seen by the fact that 3 of the semi finalists came out of it. After the semi final win the Blues were into their third final of the year this time against neighbours Burren.

The final was played in terrible conditions and credit must be given to both sets of players who put on a very enjoyable match. Unfortunately burren managed to snatch a goal in the first half to go in at half time with a slight lead and although The Point pressed hard they could not find the equaliser. The Point mentors would like to thank all the players who took part and gave their all and also the parents for the great support the team got.

Many thanks must go to all members who were there organising and who helped in hosting a fantastic day. Gratitude must also go to our proud and generous sponsors Boylans, who have been proud sponsors of Warrenpoint for a long time. Go raibh míle maith agaibh
