Cumann Pheadair Naofa broke tradition for this years 34th Annual Family Fun Day and Duck Derby which took place in Warrenpoint Municipal Park on Sunday 13 August.  The change of venue created lots of new faces and event organiser Feargal McCormack said the move of venue was a positive one which saw the community gather in one of the town landmarks for a day of fun for everyone.

There was lots of fun for all the family including face painting, bouncy castles, dancing exhibitions and a Ceili which saw our ladies team take to the stage & entertain the crowds. The musicians took to the band stand and played wonderful tunes to entertain all our visitors, some even took to the stage for a waltz! One of the most popular events saw club man John Daly steward the win a goldfish stand which saw the kids and adults throw for a fish with lots coming back for a second go! The young pointers has arts and crafts stalls while the tea ladies served the hundreds all day with tea and beautiful cake!

The Annual Duck Derby also took place in the new duck pool which was filled by the local fire brigade. Gerry Gray made sure all the ducks got a fair start and first across the line was Katrina McPoland’s duck lifting her the £150 prize money! Not to mention the annual races which saw young and old get the trainers on to race for first across the line, a popular event as always!

Many thanks organiser Feargal McCormack for his sterling work and organisation of the annual event, to everyone who helped set up, who manned the event, provided entertainment and supported us in the park. We look forward to planning our 35th fun day!
