It was with much sadness that Club members said farewell to esteemed club member Hugh Mc Anulty on Sunday past, when club members joined the local and wider community, at the Requiem Mass for Hugh in St Peter’s Church, which was concelebrated by Canon John Kearney, Father Brendan Carr and Father Lavery. The large attendance at the Requiem Mass  was a tribute to the esteem with which Hugh was held in the community and  far beyond. Hugh was a life longmember of St. Peter’s GAA Club, having played football and was a member of the St. Peter’s  GAA Club Band, who contributed to the beautiful liturgy for Hugh.

The Club has a long association with McAnulty’s Yellow Line Coach Hire and on many occasions, it was Hugh who ensured that our players arrived at match fixtures safely.

As a mark of respect for Hugh, St. Peter’s GAA Club, including club dancers, formed a Guard of Honour as the large funeral cortege made its way  to St. Peter’s Cemetery, poignantly pausing  outside McAnulty’s on Church Street.

On behalf of the senior committee and club members, we express our deepest sympathy to his wife Rosemary, daughter Eadaoin, sons Declan and Micheal, mother Mairead,, brother Cathal, sisters Theresa McGarry, Firin McArdle and Una Silclir and the entire family circle.

Ar dheis De go raibh a anam uasal.
