125 Years of GAA Celebrations

To celebrate the 125 Years of the GAA in 2009, Cumann Pheadair Naofa CLG established a 125 Committee under the chairmanship of Feargal McCormack to co-ordinate the organisation of a calendar of events for the year, including the official naming of Pairc Liam Uí Ír on Sunday 13 September 2009.

125th Celebration of the foundation of a GAA Club in Warrenpoint

The club organised a special year long programme of activities in 2013 under 125 Committee Chairman Eugene Gallagher and Secretary Donal McCormack to celebrate the 125th Anniversary of the foundation of a GAA club in Warrenpoint on 25 January 1888. Details of the extensive calendar of events are summarised below:

Jan 1: Burying of Time Capsule at Pairc Liam Uí Ír.
Jan 18: St. Dallan’s Primary School C.P.N GAA Health & Well Being Day and Launch of New Handball Wall at St. Dallan’s

Jan 25: Down Memory Lane – commemorating the 125th Anniversary of the first meeting of a GAA Club in Warrenpoint – John Martins GAC on 25 January 1888. Honouring the most recent C.P.N Down Senior Football Championship Winning Team of 1953 to an informal event in the clubrooms, Mary Street

Feb 8: 125 Club Annual Reunion in The Whistledown Hotel.
March 17: 125 Mass in Irish for the deceased members, in St Peter’s Church at 11am.
April 1-5: Easter Hurling and Camogie Week.
May 17 – 18: Féile na nGael An Dúin for Hurling and Camogie.
June: 125 10k Run.
July 21: 125 Cultural Evening with Cathal McAnulty in the clubrooms, Mary Street.
July 29: Summer Hurling and Camogie Week.
Aug 11: C.P.N Family Fun Day at Clonallon Park.
Aug 12-16: Cul Camp, Pairc Liam UÍ Ir
Aug 23: 125 Parade through town to Municipal Park at 7pm followed by family friendly barbeque and Craic agus Ceol at Clubrooms and 125 Marquee
Aug 24: 125 Family Games Day at Pairc Liam Uí Ír
Aug 24: Parcel of Rogues in 125 Marquee.
Aug 25: Hypnotist – Richard Morrow, followed by Disco by Francie C.
Sept 9: Inaugural C.P.N. Social Initiative Outing to Croke Park.
Oct 15: Cumann Pheadair Naofa AGM.
Oct 25 – 28: Exhibition to Celebrate 125th Anniversary of Foundation of a GAA Club in Warrenpoint.
Nov 6: Open Night and underage Registration Evening at St. Mark’s High School
Nov 30: 125 Networking Fundraising Breakfast at The Whistledown
Dec 14: Santa Saturday.
