Our Minor footballers travelled to Banbridge on Tuesday past to play St.Patricks Gaels, an amalgamation of Clann na Banna and Magheralin. This was our second match in the South Down League, following on from a home win the previous week against Atticall.

The Bannsiders made the more impressive start, scoring a fantastic point straight from the throw in, and moving the ball around more convincingly in the early stages than the young blues could manage. However, when they settled the ‘Point boys found their shooting boots, scoring an impressive 2.05 before the Gaels got back on the score sheet with another well worked point. The Warrenpoints goals came from Sean McConville and Jack Houlahan. Warrenpoint raised the green flag twice more in the first half, the majors coming from Eoin McGivern and Jack Elmore.

From the restart, in an attempt to make up the deficit, the Gaels adopted a much more physical approach, however this led to Warrenpoint being awarded several, well taken, frees. In addition to these scores the ‘Point boys found the net twice more and took some nice points from play.
