This year seen the inaugural Maiden of the Mournes Adult Handball Tournaments being played at the Bridal Loanan Ball wall.

On Monday and Tuesday past saw the Adult C competition played out with competitors from all over the county with representatives from Downpatrick, Annsborough, Saval, Mayobridge, Hilltown and off course several from Warrenpoint.  With 4 groups of 4, one person qualified from each for the semi final.  The last four lined up as Michelle McCoy from Mayobridge, Jack Turley from Saval and Liam Leddy and Declan Doyle from Warrenpoint.  In the first Semi-final Jack Turley used his fitness and superior ball skills to out smart Declan Doyle on a 15-12 score line. In the second semi-final Liam Leddy over came Michelle McCoy on a score of 15-11 in a tight game that could have gone either way.

The final saw young Jack Turley up against Liam Leddy. In what turned out to be the best game of the competition Jack Turley won out on a 21-20 scoreline.  There was a large crowd in attendance to watch the game in the fading light.  The reigning Maiden of the Mourne, Sofya Natarova, presented the Trophy to Jack Turley, our first winner of the Maiden of the Mournes Adult C title.
