Cumann Pheadaír Naofa 3-18
Ballygiblin 1-13

Cumann Pheadaír Naofa travelled down to North Cork and the home of our current team co manager Tom Daly, whose final rally of 2-4 ensured his side a well-deserved competitive win of the season, but it was his two well taken first half goals that finally saw Cumann Pheadaír Naofa squeeze out some daylight between the sides in a tight first half battle as the game approach the midpoint.
Ballygiblin, on the outside of Mitchelstown got off to a flying start thanks to the dominance of ex cork hurlers, Dermot Lynch & Dave Moher boasting four All-Ireland medals between them they proved to be a real handful for the blues half backline. With Sean Mallon overseeing proceeding from the sideline the blues adjusted to the tempo and weren’t long getting to grips with Corks direct stylish hurling. Daly, under fierce pressure from two defenders managed to scramble the sliotar over the line for the blues opening goal. Ballygiblin’s response was immediate, within a minute they had plundered a goal of their own and were now one point clear. As the 30min mark approached Daly struck again for his 2nd goal to leave the score Cumann Pheadaír Naofa Hurling 3-8 Ballygiblin 1-8.

The second half produced some super scores, most notably the score of the game coming from Tiernan Murphy as he broke out of the half backline, sprinted down the sideline and directed a super strike straight between the posts from all of 60m. The blues now played with great passion and it was they who now controlled the tempo eventually seeing out a very impressive eleven point win.
