The 2019 season got off to a great start for the new senior management team up of Tom Daly, Sean Mallon & Liam Boyle. The blues entertained Camloch Craobh Rua at Páirc Liam Uí Ír and with a panel of over twenty-eight players to choose from, every player got at least thirty minutes of game time. Tom & Sean gave Senior team debuts to five up & coming star in Thomas Magee, Conan Kelly, Tiernan Murphy, Jake McNabb & Peter McCreesh all of who were eager to impress under lights in calm and mild conditions. Cumann Pheadaír Naofa got off to a flying start with James O’Hare, Jamie Grant & Niall McParland looking extremely sharp up front, with the ever-present threat of Kevin McCullough proving to be a thorn in the visitor’s side. The defensive unit of James McParland, Cathal McGivern & Mathew Teague were looking very comfortable when in possession, rarely did anything pass this strong defensive unit. By the end of the first half the Warrenpoint side were eleven points to the good and could be afforded a few positional changes.

The second half proved to be a lot closer affair as Camloch staged a mini revival to bring the game back to seven points, but with Tomas Magill, Tiernan Murphy and the return of an impressive Ali Higgins the blues were never under any threat as the scores continued to flow.

With the opening game of the league less than three weeks away, a home game against Castlewellan, Tom, Sean & Liam will have the last weekend of the month to look forward to with a trip to Cork for a few challenge games and another chance to look how the players perform under what is sure to be a few tough preseason matches.
