The under 16 boys made the short Journey to neighbours Rostrevor for their third league match in South Down Division one.

Having previously overcome Bosco and Clann na banna in this league the ‘point boys were hoping to build on the momentum as some very challenging matches are on the horizon.

Thankfully the intense heat relented and the match was played in ideal conditions, Warrenpoint got of to a good start with two points in the first 5 minutes, both coming from Cian McLoughlin.  Cian was on the scoreboard again shortly after, this time raising the green flag.

Rostrevor got the next two scores, firstly a well worked point and then a ‘deflected’ goal from a penalty, the initial shot being parried by Warrenpoint keeper Sean Carragher and the Rostrevor penalty taker collecting the rebound and finishing well to the net.

Despite not playing well Warrenpoint finished the half with another goal, JJ Ucar, and 3 points, Odhran Jones, David Breen and Eanna Carr.

This left the half time score 1.01 to 2.05 in Warrenpoints favour. Rostrevor were unlucky not to have been closer, as they played some very determined football, as would be expected in a local derby.

The second half seen the young blues play a bit more like themselves, getting a return of 2 goals and seven points to a Rostrevor goal.Full time score 2.01 t0 4.12 in Warrenpoints favour.

Due to holidays etc. Warrenpoint gave debuts to two under 14s, S.McNulty and C.Freer, both came on as substitutes and both done very well.
