The first competitive encounter of the season for the Warrenpoint U14 Ladies couldn’t have been a much tougher away trip to Bosco. A heavy pitch and windy conditions made things tough for both teams. Bosco started strongly and were soon firing points over, regularly. The young Blues worked hard, but just couldn’t quite assert any control in the game. Cara Bradley in goal and the defensive back line of Lillie McClorey, Orla-May McClean and Shannon Doyle, worked exceptionally hard, to limit Bosco’s goal scoring opportunities, but the points kept coming for the home team. Warrenpoint finally got a score on the board just before half time from a rare attack, rewarded with a well-taken goal by Sydney Barnett.

The Blues upped their game in the second half, as the weather turned, and the rain started. Showing plenty of fighting spirit and tenacity, the girls got stuck in and battled away finally getting their just rewards with two goals from Emma Ryan, a point by Athena Perdikomatas and a further couple of points by Sydney Barnett. By this time the game was unfortunately well beyond Warrenpoint, but the girls kept fighting until the final whistle, Bosco winning by 6-7 to 3-3. Next up for the U14 Ladies is a home League fixture vs Saval on Sunday 7th April.
