U14 Ladies Lose Out to Strong Castlewellan Side

On a beautiful sunny, Sunday morning (13th May) the U14 Ladies from Warrenpoint made the journey to Castlewellan, for what was expected to be a tough match and so it proved.
Castlewellan were very quick out of the blocks and soon got on the score sheet. Using the space well, Castlewellan were able to spread the ball about and give the young Blues a good run around. Regular scoring from the home side and stout defending gave them a comfortable lead at half time.

The Warrenpoint Ladies rallied slightly at the start of the second half, buoyed by getting their first score on the board, in the closing moments of the first half. Unfortunately, the fight back was just not enough and injuries to both starting midfielders, Katie Howlett and Caoimhe Quinn and the reshuffle that followed, did nothing to help the flow of the game from Warrenpoint’s perspective. Despite the Blues never giving up the fight, the home team ran out comfortable winners 4-11 to 1-03.

Next up for the U14 Ladies is an away fixture; RGU Downpatrick vs Cumann Pheadair Naofa on Sunday 27th May 2018.
