Our U16 Ladies travelled to Newcastle this morning to play Bryansford in Round 8 of the LGFA U16 League. Despite missing quite a number of players due to holidays/Gaeltacht, the Droichead Phointe ladies put on a superb performance bolstered, once again, by players from our U14 teams.

A tight game saw both sides equal at half-time with eight points each. The intensity increased during the second half with both sides eager to gain advantage. Throughout this half, the young Blues were unlucky with a few misplaced shots and decisions that went against them. Ahead by 2 points in the dying minutes of the game, a free kick which ended up in the back of the Blues’ net saw the game end with Bryansford the victors by one point – Droichead Phointe 1-12 Bryansford 1-13

With four games left to play in the U16 League, the Driochead Phointe Ladies are up for the challenge to keep hold of their coveted top position. Next up is a home fixture vs Teconnaught on Wednesday 15th August in Milltown @ 7.30pm.
